Saint-Germain-des-Prés

Where Paris argued philosophy over coffee.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés

This is the neighborhood where Sartre and Beauvoir held court at Café de Flore, where Hemingway drank, and where publishing houses and antique dealers still outnumber chain stores. It's more polished than the Marais and more expensive than most of Paris, but the mix of 12th-century church, art galleries, and genuinely old cafés is hard to find elsewhere.
